**Week 2 of the One Room Challenge: A Step Towards a Functional and Fun Dining Room**

If you’ve been following my One Room Challenge journey, you’ll know I’m transforming my dining room from bland and boring to something much more functional and fun. Week 2 has come and gone, and while I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped, progress is progress, right?
Between work, family commitments, and my son’s rheumatology appointment taking up a whole day, I found myself short on time this week. But that didn’t stop me from tackling at least one major task: assembling my IKEA Besta shelving units!
The IKEA Besta Shelving Units – A Game Changer
If you’ve ever put together an IKEA piece of furniture, you know that it’s a task that requires patience. But, I have to admit, I love the feeling of accomplishment once it’s all done. The Besta shelving units were the perfect choice for my dining room transformation. Not only will they add much-needed storage, but I think they will also bring a modern and sleek vibe to the space with the white oak finish.
The goal for these units is to hold some of my dining room essentials and display items, like art, plants, and a few fun pieces that make the room feel warm and inviting. They’re perfect for keeping things organized while also adding some character to the room. Plus, their clean design gives me the flexibility to add decorative elements without feeling like the room is overcrowded.
This felt like 1 million hours
Keeping it Real
To be honest, it wasn’t much in terms of visible transformation, but even small wins count. The reality of juggling a full schedule while participating in a big project like this is that some weeks will feel slower than others. But that’s the beauty of the One Room Challenge—it’s all about showing the process, the ups and downs, and celebrating the small steps that lead to a bigger change.
Next week, I’m hoping to get the bench build done and start adding those fun design elements that will truly make the room feel like my own. I’m excited to see how everything will come together, and I’m definitely looking forward to being able to share a more completed space with you!
My living room has looked like this for days 😩it’s fine.
Looking Ahead
As I get ready to dive into Week 3, I’m reminded of how important it is to be patient with myself throughout this process. Life can get in the way sometimes, and that’s okay. The key is to keep pushing forward, even if it’s just a little bit at a time. I’m excited to see how this room evolves over the next few weeks and can’t wait to reveal the final transformation!
