Dining Room Makeover ORC
**Exciting News: My Participation in the One Room Challenge – Dining Room Makeover!**
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be participating in the upcoming *One Room Challenge*, which kicks off today- April 2! If you’re not familiar with the challenge, it’s a bi-annual event where designers, bloggers, and DIY enthusiasts come together to transform a space in just six weeks. Each week, participants share their progress, and at the end of the challenge, we all reveal our finished rooms. I can’t wait to show you what I have in store for my dining space makeover!
**The Vision: A Functional and Stylish Dining Room**
Since moving to our new home in October 2024, I’ve been updating one space at a time to make it feel more like “us.” Sometimes you find that your old furniture just doesn’t work as well in a new space or layout.
My new dining room has tons of potential, but our current set up just doesn’t feel right. The space needs to be more functional, with smart storage solutions and furniture that better fits the room’s dimensions. That’s where the exciting updates come in!
1. **Ikea Besta Shelving**
One of the key updates in the space will be the addition of *Ikea Besta* shelving. These modular units will not only provide much-needed storage, but they will also help create a sleek, modern look in the room. I love how versatile Besta units are – they can be customized to suit any style or need, and I’m excited to see how they will fit into my vision for the space!
2. **Banquette Bench Seat**
To make the most of my dining space, I’ll be building a custom *banquette bench seat*. This will not only maximize seating but also bring in a cozy, built-in feel that will really help define the space. I’ll use the Besta shelving as the base and add a plywood top as well as a custom sewn cushion to sit on and an upholstered back.
The bench will offer a place to relax and linger over meals, making the room feel even more inviting and functional.
3. **New Oval Dining Table**
One of the biggest changes will be swapping out my current rectangular dining table for a more space-efficient *oval table*. The new table will take up less room, giving the space a more open and airy feel while still providing plenty of seating for family and friends. I’m looking forward to how the new shape will enhance the overall flow of the room. And these green chairs are going to be such a cute addition.
4. **Colorful Wallpaper**
You know I’m gonna add some color! I have my eye on this gorgeous wallpaper from Graham and Brown. I think it will be the perfect pop. The green is just 👏🏼 so good.
**Why I’m Excited About This Makeover**
The One Room Challenge is the perfect opportunity to push my creativity and make some much-needed changes to my dining area. I love how it encourages participants to think outside the box, experiment with design ideas, and ultimately create something that is both functional and beautiful. I can’t wait to share my progress with you each week, and of course, the grand reveal at the end!
Stay tuned as I embark on this journey, and don’t forget to follow along for weekly updates. I’ll be sharing design ideas, tips, and the behind-the-scenes process as I work to transform my dining room into a space that I can truly enjoy.
Are you participating in the One Room Challenge too? Let me know in the comments, or feel free to share your own renovation plans. I’d love to hear what you’re working on!
Stay inspired and let the transformation begin!
